1:00-5:00 p.m. Information Anywhere: Mobile Technology, Libraries and Health with Max Anderson
Location: Ivy Tech Community College (9301 E 59th St. Indianapolis 46216)

This four-hour class is an overview of the plethora of mobile devices available today and how they impact libraries and healthcare. We will discuss Apple's products (including iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad), Blackberry devices, and Google Android-powered phones and devices. Popular uses and applications for these devices, with particular emphasis on those that make use of the products of the National Library of Medicine will be highlighted. Students will learn what it takes to create mobile applications and websites, and will participate in a hands-on activity to create a simple mobile website. QR (Quick Response) Codes and Augmented Reality will also be discussed. If you own or have access to a mobile device (smartphone, tablet, iPad, etc.), please bring it to class!

Come learn about current initiatives, including professional development opportunities, a state information literacy day, and possible consumer health and health literacy programing. This will be an interactive session with a chance to add your voice to the cause.

2012 Conference Stipend Application

IHSLA will offer one stipend to a qualified* IHSLA member. If your dream is to attend our IHSLA annual meeting and you feel this stipend would make your dream come true, then let us know!

*Applicants must have their 2012 dues paid in full, and submit a completed application by March 8, 2012.

The individual receiving the stipend will be notified the week of March 15th, 2012.

The stipend will cover full conference registration, one night lodging at the Fort Harrison Inn plus mileage* to and from South Bend. The recipient of the stipend will be asked to write a short article about their conference experience for the IHSLA website.
